Vin Gelo-
HSW
- HSW traffic light is expected but not sure when although work was done based on that agreement with the town
- An island will be built in the lane by the Natatorium forcing people exiting to make a right turn onto Wolf Hill Road
- All buses are now on school property and off of Wolf Hill Road
- Parking near field will be finished soon
- $75,000 is our projected contribution to traffic light
- Cameras installed at press box
HSE
- 14 bathrooms – gutted and redone to make for handicapped accessibility (done over summer)
- Handicapped devices installed (like a trolley) to enter auditorium and music suite
- Cameras installed at press box
WH
- Interior doors were put onto all classrooms without any existing doors-this is the only fully air conditioned building in district
PAU
- Library was totally redone over the summer in addition to a new a/c unit being installed in main office
General Information
- More security cameras were installed throughout district with special attention paid to high school fields
- Vandals have already been caught at each high school as a result of cameras
- All buildings were cleaned as usual with particular attention paid to H1N1 virus
- Fire inspections done over summer – all buildings passed
- As of this year, both HSE and HSW will have retired police officers as security guards (6 HSE/3 HSW)
- Building patrol will happen during peak times with special attention paid in spring/fall/evenings and weekends
- A permit is required to use our school fields-can be done online through website
- Johnson Controls energy performance contract includes: modernization of lighting and new clocks throughout district buildings, new a.c. system for WH, some new windows (OT, WH courtyard, HSE east gym) as well as solar panels at both HS
- Hoping to begin work towards EP contract over this coming summer
- Blueprints for each bldg. are being gathered for submission to state for review-takes @ 6 mos. for approval
- Goal of EP contract is to have enough items to generate payback and long term savings over an 18 yr. period
- Individual building concerns were addressed

Half Hollow Hills High School East

Vin Gelo announced his retirement effective December 30th after 28 years of dedicated and distinguished service at Half Hollow Hills.
HSW - Will not be adding additional parking spots near the track as intended because moving gas and electric lines proved too costly. 5 sinks to be replaced in girls’ bathrooms.
HSE - Toured and viewed new projects, including renovated bathrooms, nearly completed renovated bathrooms by the auditorium, and newly installed wheelchair ramp to auditorium. Removed carpet in Guidance and replaced it with tile. Added motion sensitive faucets in health office
Candlewood - Blacktop area outside Boy’s Gym to be constructed.
West Hollow - Extend landing at main entrance with concrete ramp to be done Election Day. Plans are going upstate for new air conditioning system—not likely to be back in time for spring installation.
Signal Hill - Town removed trees on Wolf Hill Road in order to make a turning lane onto Melrose and will add a sidewalk and replace fence with a 6’ fence. Tiles have been replaced in Rooms 108A, B and 110.
Chestnut Hill - Bathroom renovations to be done by end of school year and 4 classroom closet doors will be changed in the spring.
Forest Park – Bathroom renovations to take place in the spring.
Otsego – Shades for cafeteria windows are on order and sinks and counters will be replaced in 7 classrooms.
Paumonok- Sinks and counters will be replaced in 6 classrooms.
Sunquam - Drain repairs outside custodial office to be done this spring and shades to be installed in 13 classrooms.
Vanderbilt – Classrooms 117 and 121 have been retiled.
