LEGISLATION COMMITTEE
The Legislation Committee hosts an annual "Meet the Candidates Night". All members of the HHH community are invited to come and meet the candidates running for various town, county and state elections and to discuss the issues that directly affect Half Hollow Hills.
In March, the committee arranges a bus trip to Albany to lobby our legislators with the purpose of protecting our interests, particularly concerning the state's funding for education. Appointments with the legislators are scheduled in advance of the trip. All members of the Half Hollow Hills PTA are encouraged to travel with the committee in order to make our legislators aware of our positions and concerns. (In alternate years, the committee also arranges a lobbying trip to Washington, D.C.)
Although the Legislation Committee is primarily a lobbying group, it also works closely with the Community Awareness Committee. In addition, the participation of students from High School East and High School West makes this committee unique. Students who assist the Legislation Committee gain valuable insights into the workings of the Legislature as well as adding immeasurable depth to the Half Hollow Hills community
